Hammond’s Ice Cream brings holiday magic & gourmet small-batch flavors to Koko Marina
HONOLULU (HI Now) - Hammond’s Ice Cream in Koko Marina Shopping Center is celebrating the season with a festive holiday wonderland and a menu full of gourmet, small-batch flavors. Made in-house with 18–22% butterfat and low overrun, their ice cream is rich, ultra-creamy, and crafted with clean, simple ingredients. The shop partners with local businesses—like sourcing bananas from nearby farms for their popular Banana Pudding flavor—and offers signature ice cream flights served on homemade mini cones, letting guests sample as many flavors as they want.
For December, the shop transforms into a cozy community gathering space where families can enjoy board games and holiday favorites such as Chocolate Peppermint Bark, Eggnog, and Caramel Praline Rum Raisin. Co-owner Ryan Hammond, inspired by childhood memories of making ice cream with his mom, brings that same joy to the community daily from noon to 9 p.m.

Coconut Pandan – A combination of the subtle nutty and vanilla notes of the aromatic Asian Pandan leaf and the naturally sweet and creamy coconut flavor

The Hawaiʻi Kai ice cream shop offers housemade flavors — and adorable waffle cone ice cream flights.
Orange creamsicle. Banana split. Jack Daniels Chocolate. Blueberry Poptart. These are just of the few unique flavors you’ll find at recently opened Hammond’s Gourmet Ice Cream in Koko Marina Center. The shop took over the former Bubbies Ice Cream space, which was recently home to Moena Sweets.
The shop is especially known for its ice cream flights, complete with mini waffle cones, which are made in house. Flights include two to six mini scoops of ice cream.
“The flights allow our customers to experience a bunch and have fun with it,” she adds. “I like the flights because people sit down. They don’t just walk and get ice cream; it gets people to really interact. I feel like we really need that nowadays.”

Back in 2017, Hammond's Gourmet Ice Cream was chosen as the premier ice cream dessert specialty served on all first class jet Blue Flights flying into San Diego.
Jet Blue Airlines wanted to showcase the best of what San Diego had to offer, and since Hammond's had their first location in San Diego, they were chosen as the supplier for all incoming San Diego Flights.

Everything is made in house and nothing is freezer burnt! Ice cream needs to be creamy and Hammond’s definitely delivers!!!
